Scrappy Plus Quilt

One of my favorite Christmas Quilts (and I have A LOT of Christmas quilts!). I thought that by making this quilt I would use up all my extra Christmas scraps, haha, well it helped but I have SO much Christmas fabric still! I may have to make another scrappy plus quilt! My first free pattern!!!

Linked by Love represents the love between a parent and child. This love was the inspiration for my pattern design. Regardless of how a broken the relationship between a parent and child may feel, there is also hope because the relationship is linked by love, and that link can NOT be broken.

I am dedicating this pattern to all the children and parents who lives have been affected by attachment based parental alienation.

Halloween Paper Piecing

My girls love Halloween, like LOVE it. They want a Halloween themed birthday (in February), and they've been talking about tick or treating and costumes non-stop. We've already been to the spirit Halloween store where they pretend to be scared but don't want to leave. Since I love paper piecing and I love old fashioned Halloween costumes, I decided to come up with some fun trick or treaters for the Halloween Season. These patterns can be made into pillows, wall hangings, tote bags, or a cute little throw quilt 

 I had so much fun making my Trick or Treaters, I decided to try a Jack & Sally

 Of Course I couldn't leave out the Sanderson Sisters!

Lovely Triangle Quilt

One of my best friends just had her baby on April 7th. She went with a woodland themed nursery, using soft blues, pinks, tans, & grays. She loved the look of my triangle quilt so I made her a special girly woolen version. It turned out SO cute! I am in love!

Irish Chain Baby Quilt

 

I LOVE making baby quilts. It's a great time to try out new patterns or color combinations. I've had my eye on Irish chain quilts for some time now, I love all the different variations out there and was excited to try one out when a good friend announced she was expecting a little girl. 

I don't get to do a lot of quilting these days, due to these two, but that's OK. One day they'll be grown & I'll  have all the time in the world to sit & sew! 

Until then I am LOVING being a twin mom. It is so special & so much fun.. Lots & lots of work, but they're so worth it.

Family

Never been one to post lots of family pictures....but I just couldn't resist. This represents most of my posterity, (missing three beautiful children who currently reside in the eastern most part of the U.S.). My life has had some wonderful highs and difficult lows....but I would do it all again to have these amazing children as part of my family. They are bright, kind, compassionate, funny and adorable. So grateful for the ties that bind...grateful that my family is forever!

Pretty Pinwheels

Well, we took pictures, but I guess this is the only one. Dang, I'm kind of sad, because I really like this pattern. This is one I made for Rachel's twins.... technically, I didn't know I was making it for one of them, but I'm glad I did. I also gave her the woven garden quilt...those babies are going to have a blanket for every day of the month.

This is made from fat quarters and scraps, if you look at other quilts I've created you'll see some of these fabrics are repeats. But, that's always good in my opinion, because it allows room in my material bins for new fabric.

Easy Perfectly Pointed Triangle Quilt

I'm in love with this modern triangle baby quilt!  

I've been wanting to make a quilt using solids & I like it SO much I want to make another (good thing plenty of babies are being born!)

Gee, It's a Giraffe

Especially created for my teaching friend, Shelly's firstborn, little Silas. I was nervous about this creation, simply because I'm not known for my artistic skills, but gave it a shot anyway.

All fabric is fat quarters except for one yard of off white, 1/4 yard of the striped, and the 1/3 yard of the blue with various circles.

Finished quilt dimensions are: 44 x 48". Happy to share pattern if interested.

Sail Away (baby quilt)

This quilt came about because I found a couple of fat quarters with fishy-type designs and because I found one fat-quarter with a wave pattern. So, one cold, lonely winter night when I was missing the ocean I decided to undertake this design.

Everything on this blanket is a fat quarter except for the yellow gingham, which was about 1/4 yard scrap, the navy blue and the white. Oh, yes, the binding was left over red from something else, so it wasn't a fat quarter either.

MATERIALS: Lots of fat quarters (I used about eight)
1 yard of white
1/3  yard yellow gingham
1/2 yard navy
1/2 yard for binding
1 1/2 flannel or minky for back

The Little Mermaids (DIY Halloween Costumes)

 Cuteness overload. Seriously. We've got not one, but two little mermaids here. I can't even stand it. This costume wasn't too difficult to make. The fabric was bought from Joanns (using coupons, YEAH for coupons). The yarn was on hand (notice the two shades of red). The onesie was sort of a splurge (hard to find specific colors sometimes), but I only spent $25 per costume and they're way

 super cute!!!!

MATERIALS for 2 costumes sized at 12 months:
1 yard mermaid fabric
2 yards tulle
1/3 yard stretch fabric
1/2" elastic for waist measurement
thread
Onesie (I found the nude color on Amazon)

Easy Diagonal Baby Quilt

 I am not use to quilts taking me forever to complete, but when you're pregnant with twins... It's hard to get much done. I was busy sleeping, eating, & growing babies. But I knew that I wanted to make my sweet littles a baby quilt (or two, or three), I already had lots of cute girly fabrics, so that was easy, choosing a pattern was the hard part! I decided to try a quilt-as-you-go. I had done it with a table runner before, but never an actual quilt. These instructions can be used either way, but I am writing them for a quilt-as-you-go. 

Easy Baby Quilt (Part Deux)

 We've had numerous comments (good and bad) about our Easy Baby Quilt. Because we wanted to make certain our directions were correct and because one of my wonderful friends is about due to have a baby, I decided to recreate the quilt again.
I used the measurements found on the diagram for the Easy Baby Quilt, and I can, with complete certainty, verify the measurements are correct. However, you must cut accurately and make sure seams are exactly 1/4".
I actually sewed this quilt together a little different than the other...and this method is somewhat easier. (Live and learn)

Fussy Cut Hexy Elephant Quilt (Now That's a Mouth-full!)

This fun little number involved fussy cuts, (which I had been wanting to try), hexies (which I also wanted to try) and I did quite a bit of free motion quilting. Much of this fabric has been used in other quilts, so no sheep had to loose their winter coats and I was feeling too lazy to drive all the way to the fabric store to purchase batting so I used a piece of ugly green fleece in between the top and bottom for warmth. So, I saved gasoline and got rid of an ugly piece of fabric that I'd probably never use for anything else. Yeh me!

In case you don't know what fussy cut means...I didn't...it is just show-casing a cute design on a piece of fabric. In this quilt, obviously, it's the elephants. It often takes extra fabric because you have to cut out according to design.

This is not a project for the faint of heart...in other words, not a beginner. But, if you've made a few quilts, you like hexies and you love to sew---then here you go!

I am so totally in LOVE with this quilt for so many reasons;

1. It's BLUE, my favorite color

2. It's nautical themed/inspired 

3. It's the first quilt I've completed since having twins
